Dear Colleagues,

As we already look forward to this year’s conferences, I am thrilled to reflect on last year’s successful events - Challenges of Airline Medicine, in Chicago on May 4th, chaired by my predecessor Dr Vincent Feuillie, and the 2024 Aviation Health Conference that I had the privilege to chair on 7-8 October in Lisbon. Both IAMA hallmark annual events were very well-attended and prompted stimulating airline medicine specialist discussions. Thank you to all who participated in either or both meetings!

Dear members and friends of IAMA,

Happy New Year to you all and I hope you had a wonderful holiday season with friends and family.

Last year we had 2 fantastic scientific meetings, first on May 20 in New Orleans, followed by AsMA, then the Aviation Health Conference in London, September 26-27.

Dear all,

For those of us in the northern hemisphere, Spring is making a welcome arrival.

With it I hope many of us are able to start making travel plans for the coming months. The annual IAMA meeting this year on 20th May is in New Orleans and promises to be a fabulous day, so do consider attending. The title “Airline medicine and all that jazz” sets the scene and I know the programme committee and others have been working hard behind the scene to ensure we all have an informative and enjoyable day.

Dear all,

It has once again been a difficult year for many. Despite moving on from the pandemic with easing of travel restrictions there have been other events affecting work and international travel. I hope that as we approach the end of the year and many of us are preparing to celebrate Christmas you can enjoy a period of rest and enjoy time with family and friends.

Dr Martin Hudson a former President of IAMA received the 2022 George J Kidera Award. It was presented to him at the opening ceremony of the 1st International Conference of Aerospace Medicine in Paris by Dr Dr Elizabeth Wilkinson, President of IAMA and Dr Brinio Veldhuijzen van Zanten from the IAMA Awards committee.

The award is presented annually to an individual in recognition of outstanding achievement in the field of Aviation Medicine and has been presented every year since 1963.

Dear all,

I do hope you’re enjoying  holidays and the opportunity to see family and friends now travel is finally restored across the globe. It seems a long time since many of us were enjoying meeting up in Reno at IAMA and AsMA in May of this year. Now, September is almost upon us and with it, another opportunity to see friends and participate in excellent scientific programmes.

Dear IAMA members and friends,

We are fast approaching our Annual Scientific Meeting to be held at the Peppermill Resort Hotel in Reno, Nevada, on May 21st and we are hoping that many of you will join us there.

Dear IAMA members and friends,
Happy New Year to you all and I hope you have enjoyed a relaxing festive season with friends and family.

Some of you may be surprised to be receiving a second annual President’s letter from me – we will get to that later in the note!
